Joseph Douglas Shaw Campbell (1882--1966)
Scottish Freemason, c.1912-c.1920

According to the certificate issued by the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Scotland, Douglas (J.D.S.) Campbell was admitted to the Dumbarton Kilwinning Lodge No.18 as a "Mark Master" on 6th May 1912. Later, when JDS returned to Coventry, the Dumbarton Lodge issued him a recommendation certificate (dated 12th December 1921).

On 7th March 1923, he joined St. George's Lodge No.3818, Coventry (as recorded by the certificate issued by the United Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of England, dated 18th October 1923). His son Douglas recalls being firmly advised by his father (some years later) against joining the "Masons": so the Coventry lodge cannot have been a happy experience.
